Our New Ambassador His Excellency, Steven Mark Fisher:
   
 

 

He arrived in Dominican Republic on December 13, 2009 to perform his duties as His Majesty’s Ambassador. He presented credentials to President Fernandez on December 15, 2009.

Born on February 7, 1965, in Stratford Upon Avon, Warwickshire, Steven was educated in Shrubland St (Leamington Spa), Cubbington and Warwick Schools and afterwards at the University of Oxford where he graduated in History and Modern Languages in 1987. Before starting work at the Foreign Ministry and at the Commonwealth (FCO) in October 1993, Steven worked for 5 years as Technological and Management Consultant for Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), we also worked as a book seller for some time.

When he joined FCO, Steven spent two years working in European Union Affairs in London before accepting a three year post as 2nd Secretary (Economics/Trading) in Singapore. Upon his return to London in 1998, Steven joined the Eastern Department as Section Chief covering Ukraine, Belorussia and Moldova. After spending a period at the Department for the European Union as Public Diplomacy Chief, Steven was transferred to Caracas in 2002 as that Mission’s Second in Command. From Caracas he went on to Budapest in 2006, also as that Mission’s Second in Command until August 2009.
