Visiting The United Kingdom

List of documents that must be submitted at the time of lodging

Your visa application to visit the united kingdom of great britain and northern ireland

  • Completed application form, VAF 1.
  • Valid passport for at least 6 months and all previous passports.
  • 1 recent (not older than 6 months) passport size (4cm x 5cm) photograph, taken against a white coloured background (please do not staple the photo to the form).  Dark coloured background will not be accepted. Scanned and digital photos will also not be accepted.
  • Copy of Cedula
  • Appropriate visa fee = £50 (payable in local currency)
  • Bank letter stating the balance of your account and/or up-to-date personal itemised bank statements for at least the previous three months, as evidence of your financial standing and funds for your visit or letter of authority and bank statement from the person from whose the account the funds will be drawn.
  • Evidence of employment/business situation in the Dominican Republic.
  • Photocopy of sponsor’s passport
  • Letter from host or sponsor (if applicable) in the UK stating that they will support and accommodate you during your visit
  • Evidence of your sponsor’s financial situation in the UK (if appropriate)
  • A letter from your employer granting leave of absence (detailing paid or unpaid) and stating your salary, how long you have been employed and in what capacity or if you are self employed, evidence of business activity and financial standing.
  • If going on a business visit you require an invitation letter from a UK company and evidence of any business dealings with UK companies.

Applications are received Monday to Friday between 8:30 am and 11 noon

Incomplete applications will be refused

You are strongly advised not to make any financial commitment in respect of your travel prior to obtaining your visa.

The visa fee, once paid and receipt, is not refundable.

Visas Issued By The British Embassy Are Only Valid To Visit Great Britain And Northern Ireland

The British Embassy in Santo Domingo informs that for the 6th January 2007, that the process to obtain a visa for Great Britain, will involve the capture of the applicant’s finger prints; there fore from that date forward all the applications for the United Kingdom will be done in person.
 
There are exceptions such as children under five, people with genuine health problems, diplomatic passport holders and their dependants as long as they travel in official business, United Nations travelling on United Nations official business, members of the Commonwealth and OTAN Armed Forces designated to serve in the United Kingdom.
 
This new process does not last more than two minutes. It works bay capturing the fingerprints with a scanner that does not use ink, liquids or chemical products.

Visa applications will not be processed until the applicant has provided his fingerprints.
