II Business Roundtable The Economist Conferences/18-3-2009: During the full day of March 18th, high ranking Dominican Government officers and executive managers of local and international companies met to participate in the Second Business Roundtable in Dominican Republic, organized by The Economist Intelligence Unit, that also included the participation of the Dominican Republic President, Dr. Leonel Fernández Reyna, as a guest panelist, as well as of some high profile executives of the local and international business sector. 

President Leonel Fernández Reyna closed the conference with the subject “Government’s Plans and Priorities” and he expressed that ‘for the Dominican economy to fail, the world economy would have to fail’. He affirmed: ‘we expect a 3 percent growth this year, contrary to the Economist magazine’s report’.

President Leonel Fernández Reyna expressed that ‘to face the financial crisis, the country has two challenges: continuous economic growth with internal equilibrium, price stability and foreign balance along with foreign exchange stability. The head of state mentioned that it’s extremely important to make the necessary adjustments to the country’s economic model.
