School Donation "ABRIENDO CAMINO”

August 17, 2009:For the third consecutive year we organized the delivery of school supplies for low income kids of the Villas Agrícolas sector. This allowed the kids to start the new school year with all necessary equipment.

The committee formed by the wives of the British Chamber of Commerce directors, represented by Elaine De Herrera and Jacqueline De Santana was in charge of this activity. The act took place in the halls of the Abriendo Camino Foundation, which is a non profit institution working to improve youth’s education and integral development in that sector of the capital.

More than 150 boys and girls coming from the public schools Palacio Escolar España, Club 12 Juegos and others who participate in the educational programs of “Abriendo Camino” benefited from this donation. They received notebooks, dictionaries, text books, pencils, pens, rules, erasers, uniforms and backpacks which are part of their educational requirements which can’t be met by their relatives.

We appreciate the valuable collaboration and solidarity of the member companies that took part in this noble cause: Banco Popular, DAS, EgeHaina, Piñeyro & Lara, Caribe Comercial, Mercado Electrónico Dominicano, José Rodríguez, Jiménez Cruz Peña, Ediciones Taller, Cadbury Adams, CESPM, Biwater, Wilhelm Nowotny and Ana Fernández De Nowotny, Thomas Tours, BAT, Equipasa, Koor Caribe, Franco Acra, POPLIPLAS, Deloitte, and Mrs. Quisqueya Santana and Carolyn Trujillo.
