November 13, 2008.- The Federation of European Chambers of the Dominican Republic (FEDECAMARAS), on the occasion of the signing of the Economic Treaty with the European Union (EPA), celebrated a conversational gathering at the Dominican-German Cultural Centre.
The conversational theme: "Origins of the Chambers of Commerce in Europe and Dominican Republic", a most detailed and skilful research, was offered by Don Juan Periche Vidal, ex-Honorary Consul of Belgium in the Dominican Republic, founding member of various business organizations, a connoisseur of the subject and indefatigable collaborator pro development of commerce. During his professional and consular curricula, Mr. Periche has been awarded multiple local, as international decorations and recognitions.
At the table, alongside Mr. Periche, were the Honourable Ambassador of Great Britain and Ireland, Ian A. Worthington; Honourable Wilhelm Brouwer, General Consul of Lithuania; Lic. Roberto Herrera and Lic. Gustavo de Hostos, President and Vicepresident, respectively, of the Federation of European Chambers of the Dominican Republic (FEDECAMARAS).
FEDECAMARAS is composed by ten binational Chambers of Commerce: Dominico-German Chamber of Commerce; Dominico-Belgium Chamber of Commerce; British Chamber of Commerce; Scandinavian-Baltic Chamber of Commerce in the Dominican Republic; Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Dominico-French Chamber of Commerce; Netherlander Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic; Dominico-Italian Chamber of Commerce; Russian Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic and the Dominican-Switzerland Chamber of Commerce and Tourism.
The Federation has received, with appreciation and great expectations, the EPA agreement signing as this broadens commerce possibilities and exchanges, all brought forth by the economic agreement with the Dominican Republic, together and conjointly with other agreements which were subscribed with the 'Old Continent'. In that order of business, FEDECAMARAS, in collaboration with CEI-RD, the European Union, Proinvest and Caribbean Export, will celebrate on the 26 of November the Seminar: "European Union - Support to Dominican Competitiveness".
In attendance to this activity were members of the various diplomatic bodies, members of the Federation of European Chambers, and other distinguished guests.
At the end of the conversational gathering, a toast was voiced and shared to celebrate the signing of the EPA thanks to the sponsorship of the Dominico-German Cultural Centre, Dewars Whiskey, Stella Artois Beer, Heineken Beer and Fromages de France.
