Business Lunch in Santiago

25 June, 2008: Accepting a warm invitation of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santiago, the members of the Board of Directors participated in a lunch with the industrialists’ of Santiago and the ambassador Ian Worthignton, to exchange impressions on the bilateral commerce between our nations.

The President of Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santiago, Mr. Ricardo Fondeur welcome the guests and presented the Ambassador who emphasized in the existing levels of commercial interchange between the Dominican Republic and the United Kingdom, which has a favorable balance for the country, being the imports about 55 million dollars and the exports about 80 million dollars.

The Ambassador emphasized the investments in the electrical generation sector of companies with origins of the United Kingdom, as well as the flow of tourists who reach about 250.000 visitors per year.  Also he gave a brief explanation in the cooperation that offers the United Kingdome for the reform of the penitentiary system supported by the application of a new model of re-education.

Also present in the luncheon were the president of the Commercial Association of Santiago, (ACIS), Luís Núñez;  the president of the British Chamber of Commerce, Roberto Herrera and Vice-president Marcos Peña, Fernando González, Charles Ureña, Leonora Dipp, also the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Montecristi, Mrs. Teresita Grullón and form Valverde Mr. Gonzalo Sánchez, as well as the members of the Directive Council of Conciliation and Arbitration.

The British Chamber of Commerce, the Embassy of the United Kingdom in the Dominican Republic and the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santiago ratified their interest to continue promoting activities that allow the industrialists of both nations to extend their knowledge and to identify potentials market which they allow to increase his levels of commercial interchange and investment.
